Apr. 30, 2017: 30th of April 2017 turned out to be a memorable moment and an ever cherishing day in the life of twenty two little children of our parish. It was a long awaited day for them to receive Jesus Christ in the form of the Holy Eucharist. After going through an intense preparation, the first communicants received the Lord with eagerness for the first time in the form of Bread and wine.
The meaningful celebration began with the Eucharistic Celebration at 9:30 am. Rev Fr Stany Pereira, parish priest presided over the celebration. Rev Fr Nelson Pais preached a befitting homily on the importance of Eucharist. Fr Johnson Sequeira, Fr Ben Britto, OFM Cap., Fr Stany Pinto and Fr Patrick Lobo, OCD joined in con celebration.
The entire liturgy was conducted by the first communicants. Dressed in white gowns and suits they were like angelic figures in the church of God. Their whole hearted participation in reading the introduction, scripture readings and various prayers were well appreciated by the congregation gathered for the celebration.
Above all it was a capturing moment to see the glowing faces of these children after receiving Jesus for the first time in their life. The first communion is a rare moment in one’s life time. These children having received Jesus were filled with immense joy and happiness. May these holy experiences continue to remain afresh in their minds whenever they receive Jesus in their hearts.
