May 20, 2017: The Youth Day - 2017 was celebrated on the 20th of May, 2017 at 3:00p.m. It began with the celebration of the Holy Eucharist. The main celebrant was Rev. Fr Rockwin Pinto and Fr Nelson Pais was the co-celebrant. After the mass, refreshments were served and then continued with the ice-breaking session.
Mr Francis D’Cunha, Head Master of Padua High School, enlightened the participants about various Government job opportunities and motivated to take up the same. The motivational speech was followed by some interesting team games conducted by Leon, Winston and Ashwin who represented the ECD core-committee. An innovative dance form i.e., the Belgian Dance was taught by Claren and his team, which was very interesting. The ECD president Leon Saldanha spoke to the gathering and motivated to join the ICYM association and draw various benefits which are useful for personal growth.
There was a cultural programme, which included a few skits, a dance and some singing performances. The ICYM annual general report for the year 2016-17 was read by the ICYM secretary of the Urwa unit, Ms Tanya Pais.
Fr Stany, the Parish Priest of Urwa Church appreciated the gathering for their esteemed presence and congratulated the Urwa ICYM unit for the arrangements and hard work put in under the guidance of Fr Nelson Pais and Fr Johnson Sequeira and successfully celebrating this important event. The Parish Pastoral Council’s Vice-President, Mr Francis Saldanha and the secretary, Mrs Lucy D’Souza were thanked for their supporting presence all throughout the programme.
The vote of thanks delivered by Ms Rochelle Misquith, the lady Vice-President of the Urwa unit. Fr Johnson Sequeira led the grace before meals and blessed the same. The programme thus concluded with a sumptuous meal and Baila, which was enjoyed by all. Riya and Mrynnal, compeered the programme.
