The feast of Assumption of Mother Mary and 78th Independence Day (celebrating 77 years of freedom) was celebrated in Immaculate Conception Church, Urwa. The main celebrant of the festal mass was Rev. Fr Lanson Maxim Pinto, Asst. parish priest of Urwa. All three schools in the Urwa church premises organized a short programme on Independence Day. Chief guest of the day Commodore Romeo Vaz hoisted the flag and gave his message to the gathering. Along with the dignitaries, students and teachers of all three schools and Parishioners paid respect to the Nation. There was a cultural Programme from the school children. Rev. Fr. Benjamin Pinto, Parish Priest and Correspondent of the schools, Asst. Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Lanson Maxim Pinto, Mr. Lloyd Lobo, vice president of PPC, Sylvia Mascarenhas, secretory of PPC and Mr Kevin Martis, coordinator of 21 commission were also present. Sweets were distributed at the end.
