Apr. 09, 2017: The Palm Sunday also known as Passion Sunday was celebrated by the parish community with much joy and devotion. Palm Sunday marks the arrival of Jesus Christ in Jerusalem, where his disciples gave him a warm welcome by waving olive leaves prior to his passion. Palm Sunday also marks the beginning of the Holy Week.
The ceremony began with the blessing of Palms at St Aloysius English Medium School premises. Rev Fr Peter D’Souza, Director Diocesan Pastoral Institute led the ceremony and blessed the palms. Thereafter the devotees marched in procession holding the blessed palms aloft devoutly to the Church.
In the Church, the liturgy of the day was led by Rev Fr Jerome D’Souza, principal, Sacred Heart PU College, Madanthyar. During the service Passion of Christ was read and reflected upon. Rev Fr Gerald D’Souza, Secretary CBE, Rev Fr Rohan Lobo, Ast Director Pastoral Institute were also present for the celebration along with the parish clergy.
