Dec. 12, 2016: The annual feast of Our Lady of Pompei Shrine, Urwa, was celebrated with great fervour and devotion on Sunday December 11 evening. The annual feast was themed as "Let us hear, meditate and live the Word of God after the example of Mother Mary.”

The solemn festal Eucharistic Mass was offered by Bishop Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza along with Fr Stany Pereira, parish priest, Fr Johnson Sequeira and Fr Nelson Pais, Ast parish priests, Fr Walter D’Mello, Fr J.B. Crasta, and other several priests from the nearby deaneries.

Fr Walter D’Mello in his homily preached in Kannada highlighted the significance of the Word of God in the life of faithful and enunciated the means of receiving the fruits of the Word of God in one’s life.

Melodious and Devotional Choir trained under the able leadership of Parish Priest helped everyone to take part in the liturgy in a meaningful way. Adoration of the Holy Sacrament and the Eucharistic procession was observed after the solemn Eucharistic Mass. Thousands of devotees irrespective of caste, creed and religion thronged the campus of Our Lady of Pompeii parish, to partake in the Eucharistic service and to thank Our Lady of Pompei for her benevolence. The parishioners and others from neighbouring parishes attended these services in large numbers. Whole programme was coordinated by Mr Jossy D'Souza and Mrs Lucy D'Souza.
