‘Vanamahothsava’, the festival of tree planting was celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, Urwa on Sunday, July 3 under the patronage of Catholic Sabha Parish unit. Rev Fr Stany Pereira, Parish Priest along with the Assistant Parish Priests Fr Johnson Sequeira and Fr Nelson Pais, Local Corporator Mr Radhakrishna, Mr Hilary D’Souza, Vice president Parish Pastoral Council inaugurated the celebration by planting a sapling. In his speech Fr Stany Pereira, invited all to develop a positive attitude towards protecting the nature in the ways possible. Mr Radhakrishna appreciated the members of the Catholic Sabha for showing keen interest in preservation of the nature.
Mr Kevin Martis, President of Catholic Sabha enunciated the purpose of this celebration, while Secretary Mr Adrian Dantis proposed the Vote of Thanks. A large number of parishioners and members of Catholic Sabha witnessed this event. A number of shade giving and fruit bearing saplings were planted on either side of the Church road.
