The Immaculate Conception Church, Urwa celebrated two special events the feast of the Assumption of our Lady and the Independence Day. Holy Mass was celebrated at 7 A.M by Rev. Fr Stany Pereira, Parish Priest where the faithful had gathered in good number to celebrate the special occasion. After the Eucharistic celebration marking the 74th Independence Day Flag was hoisted by Fr Stany Pereira along with Fr Rahul Dexter, Asst Parish Priest accompanied by Mr Lloyd Lobo, Vice president and Mrs Lucy D’souza, Secretary. Fr Stany Pereira spoke a few words of patriotism saying 15th August is so dear for the people of India because India becomes independent after lots of hardships and sacrifies of the brave Indian freedom fighters. “We are going through a tough time, a pandemic has broken out, disrupting the walk of common man we are on a fight with Covid 19, let us stand in support of each other to stand united and let my country awake” concluded Fr Stany in the words of Rabindranth Tagore. People gathered stood in distance to pay respect to the brave Martyrs. Thus a beautiful ceremony was concluded.
