Feb 28, 2017: It was a great day to thank the Almighty for the gift of elders to our community. The celebration began at 9:30 am with the Eucharistic celebration presided over by Rev Fr Stany Pereira while Asst Parish Priests con celebrated in it. During the Mass, Parish Priest appreciated the elders for the roles they have been playing in beautifying the world they live in. Adoration to the Blessed Sacrament was conducted. Holy Water was sprinkled on the congregation and priests laid their hands and prayed over all.
The second part of the celebration began at 11:15 am in the Church Hall. Rev Fr Nelson Pais invoked God’s Blessings. Rev Fr Stany Pereira welcomed the gathering and also expressed the purpose of holding a day for the elders. Mr Winston D’Souza, president, Senior Citizens Association, Milagress, addressed the gathering with a note on how to spend the retirement period in a fruitful manner. This was followed by dances, singing, lucky games, skits by the children, choir members and Urwa Kalakar. Prizes were distributed towards the end. Mr Francis Saldanha thanked everyone. Rev Fr Johnson Sequeira compered the programme. Thereafter everyone joined in the fellowship meal. Rev Fr Stany Pereira, Cyril Fernandes and Cyril Crasta conducted the live orchestra during the meals.
